Anxiety

Patients with an anxiety disorder are advised to avoid cannabis and marijuana, as THC can increase anxiety, panic or nervousness in some people. However, a new study proposes that cannabidiol, or Industrial Hemp Extract, is a potential treatment for anxiety disorders. The part of marijuana that may cause anxiety or panic in some people is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or more commonly referred to as THC. Industrial Hemp Extract is nonpsychotropic, meaning it won’t cause the user to feel “stoned” or intoxicated. THC binds to cannabinoid receptors in the body while Industrial Hemp Extract doesn’t work the same, mind-altering way. Some researchers point to studies that show that existing preclinical evidence strongly supports Industrial Hemp Extract as a treatment for:

  • Generalized anxiety disorder
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Panic disorder
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Social anxiety disorder
